Panormos is a small village 10km east of Rethimnon Crete. There is a newly constructed breakwall that will provide shelter from north and north west winds. The harbour is open to the east. The town is above the harbour. The village of Panormos has shopping for provisions especially during tourist season. There are also mailing and international telephone services. Fuel may be purchased but there are no repairs done here. There are hotels and tavernas during tourist season. There is a doctor and a pharmacy. There is a boat ramp for small boats. The alongside mooring in the harbour provides good shelter for all but strong north, east and northeast winds. The harbour is open to the east. There is a light on the harbour entrance.

Panormos is a small unspoilt village with pretty streets in the middle of the north coast of Crete, 14 miles east of Rethymnon and 36 miles west of Heraklion airport. Panormos is popular with couples and families seeking a small resort with a good beach and an adequate amount of bars and tavernas without the action of the bigger resorts. Panormos has picturesque narrow roads and has an attractive hillside setting. Panormos enjoys an appealing characterful village and some beautiful surroundings. The village has a small river and is surrounded by a pretty agricultural valley and rocky mountains. A small train visits the farthest parts of Panormos beach and local ancient sites and the medieval castle ruins above the village. Panormos beach
The beach of Panormos is situated in front of the homonymous scenic village, at a distance of 22 km far from Rethymnon at the East , just off the National Road to Heraklion. It is a sandy beach, affected by the "meltemia" (northern summer winds). Well organised, it offers accommodation facilities and food and drink in the sea front taverns and the taverns and cafes of the village. Some swimming, sunbathing (sunbeds, umbrellas) and sea sport facilities are also available. Apart from the main beach in front of the village, those who like calmness can find at the West a few coves, with pebbles, less crowded and not much organised.
