About Stalida resort - Crete (Heraklion)
Stalida is perfect for relaxed, lazy days on the beach with azure blue waters lapping against the beautiful stretch of golden sand dotted with sunbeds and umbrellas. There are plenty of watersports on offer and away from the beach you will find sights such as the Palace of King Minos at Knossos and Heraklion, with its impressive Venetian architecture and imposing castle. In the evening you can choose to wine and dine in the resort's wide selection of tavernas and restaurants, before heading to one of its handful of discos. Or for a wider choice of venues, check out Malia or Hersonnissos. There is a regular bus service to the nearby resorts.
Stalida has plenty of sandy beaches, separated by rocky outcrops, from which to enjoy the sun and enticing sea. Sun loungers and parasols are available to make your sunbathing as comfortable as possible. There are a wide selection of bars to start your evening in. After a couple of glasses of chilled Greek wine, either continue to a local taverna for a delicious meal or dance til dawn in one of the discos. The nights are so long here, that if you've got the energy, it's more than possible to do both.

Holidays in Stalida - Crete
Stalida (sometimes known as Stalis) is on the north coast of Crete and is next to the well-known resort of Malia and 3 miles from Hersonissos. Stalida holidays are just 18 miles from Heraklion airport. Stalida is ideal for beach lovers, couples and families who would like a developed resort offering a range of beaches and nightlife without the wildness of its more famous neighbour Malia. Stalida enjoy a selection of several good sandy beaches divided by rocks. Stalida has lots of bars and tavernas including many by the side of the beach with pleasant terraces. Some discos open until late but it is all a far cry from the non-stop action at Malia. Stalida is a good all round choice with something for everyone, without the inconveniences or isolation of more out-of-the-way small resorts.
Use good public transport connections from Stalida to visit the other resorts along this stretch of Crete coast like Hersonissos, which is another established busy and cosmopolitan beach and party resort. The town mini train visits neighbouring Malia.  Stalida is backed by the rugged Dikti Mountains. The immediate surroundings inland are pretty, with agricultural land supporting fruit and olive plantations. Other worthwhile favourite Stalida holiday excursions are boat trips to the beautiful island of Santorini and the fortress on Spinalonga Island, the Minoan Palace at Knossos and the traditional Crete villages of the Lassithi region.
This resort is well supplied with tavernas and bars, serving anything from fries to fresh fish and feta salads. One of the most delicious local specialities is 'souvlaki' - tender cuts of pork marinated in garlic, lemon, olive oil and oregano, then skewered and grilled. Many of the hotels have more expansive restaurants to cater for those looking for more sophisticated international cuisine. Stalida has several minimarkets proffering everyday essentials and beach goods so don't worry if you've forgotten your swimming costume or suntan lotion. Souvenirs are everywhere and you're sure to find the perfect gift for the loved ones you've left at home. Off the beaten track you can find a more diverse range of shops selling locally made crafts, jewellery and clothes. For an even more varied shopping experience you could try heading to Hersonissos or Heraklion. Stalida is well situated for accessing the surrounding countryside - take a relaxing stroll amidst fruit orchards and olive groves, accompanied only by the sound of tiny birds chirruping to one another. The nearby island of Santorini, sculpted through a history of volcanic violence, is well worth a visit. Its stunning coast is decorated with dazzling white buildings and blue-domed churches, while in the centre you'll discover a submerged crater.
Stalida beach ...
The beach of Stalida is a shallow, sandy beach in front of the resort, it is open to the North and fully affected by the northern winds; when there is wind, wonderful huge waves break on the coast, giving a fascinating impression; however, in such cases swimming is dangerous, especially for the less experienced swimmers who should be very cautious and comly with the lifesavers' instructions. Very well organised and close enough to Heraklion, the beach can satisfy all the needs of the visitors in accommodation ( a wide range of lodging in hotels, studios and rooms to let), food and drink as well as in swimming and sea sport facilities. And, if you feel like wandering around, the beaches of Malia at the East and those of Chersonissos at the West, offer very good alternatives.

Stalida holiday reviews:
Highly recommended - Ephrain Willis. Date of travel: Jan 2006
Stalida is a great place for the family. We have spent two previous vacations here and will continue to return. The beaches are wonderful and there is plenty for the kids to keep them busy. The bars are decent(prices reasonable usually) and the people are very friendly. I could recommend it highly!
